Opening Day of Bethpage Polo at the Park

The recent news of Bridgehampton Polo Club’s discontinuation of their public matches at Two Trees Farms, after a famed 20 year run, has left many wondering what’s in store for polo on Long Island? Goodbye 2 hour drives from Manhattan to the Hamptons, potentially 5 or 6 if you’re taking the L.I.E., goodbye shopping for the preppiest outfit you can’t afford afford just to get through the gate.

Hello to your new Sunday Funday. Bethpage Polo at the Park officially kicked off its summer season on June 7th 2015 and continues all the way through October 11th. Less than an hour away from the city and no Birkin, no problem!

Originally build in 1934, Bethpage State Park proudly continues a long time tradition of Sunday matches, with announcer Jerry Napp being the grounds vocal equivalent to Bob Sheppard.

Bob Ceparano, President of Polo at the Park, expressed his sadness over the news of Bridgehampton Polo Club. “Hopefully we can help all the people that are in the Hamptons come to polo here at Bethpage and still enjoy their sport.” Welcome to the party, Hamptonites!
The 2015 season looks to be a promising one with a new marketing company on board, Couture Concepts NY. Laura Petrocelli, owner of Couture Concepts NY, says that this year they’ll be “putting more of a personal approach on the [VIP] tent and all over polo.”

The VIP tent, donated by Elite Tent & Party Rental, is brand new this year and only costs $35 per person, $10 for kids, where you can enjoy appetizers, top shelf drinks and comfortable seating while watching the match. A fun addition to the VIPs this year will be a Sunday special, if you will, twice a month theming the day. Spa services? Polo rides for the kids? But wait, there’s more! You just need to show up to find out. Or go to Bethpagepolo.com, but isn’t the unknown so much more exciting?!

You don’t need to get a VIP ticket to feel like a VIP at these polo grounds, upon entering the gate you immediately are welcomed like family. What kind family is up for you to decide, there’s no judgment on these fields. Gates open at 2pm and matches begin at 3pm, entrance is $5 per person and $10 for parking.

We look forward to seeing you there. On Sundays we play polo!
